Daffs to grass: flower farmer launches TruGreen business

A former Cambridgeshire farmer has parked the combine harvester and picked up the scarifier as he launches his new venture in professional lawn care.

Daniel Maxey, 44 from Cambridgeshire, chose to invest in TruGreen Professional LawnCare, the world’s largest lawn care franchise, following an extensive career in growing crops, soft fruit and flowers commercially on his family’s farm. TruGreen North Cambridgeshire will provide an extensive range of professional lawn care services, including accredited-pest control applications, to help customers achieve a beautiful, healthy lawn.

Daniel said: “I enjoy working outdoors but I wanted to build a business for myself and provide a service locally. TruGreen is the perfect opportunity to do that and I’m excited about the future for my business. I have big plans and I’m looking forward to being able to employ local staff as the business grows.”

Founded in 1973, TruGreen serves over 3.5 million customers each year across the world and in the UK, is a franchise of ServiceMaster, which has been in franchising for nearly 60 years.

Steve Welch, brand operations manager for TruGreen UK added: “Daniel’s experience and history in growing sets him apart from other local lawn care providers. His knowledge, coupled with his passion for customer service will stand him in good stead when it comes to growing a successful business.”

Daniel’s business serves customer across North Cambridgeshire; including Oundle, Huntingdon, Peterborough, Yaxley, Wansford and March.
