The best time to aerate is now!
There are certain times of the year when you need to aerate your lawn, to enhance and encourage growth, that time is now!
What is aerating?
Aeration is the process of perforating the soil with small holes, this allows air, water, and nutrients to get access to the grassroots quicker.
Another reason for aeration is to lessen soil compaction, which prevents the necessary nutrients, water, and air to get through to the soil.
When should I be aerating?
There are a couple of times a year that you need to aerate your lawn, the start of Spring and the start of October.
During October, aerating your lawn will give the nutrients, air, and water it needs to survive the colder months during Winter.
How does aerating benefit your lawn?
The soil micro-organisms that break down lawn thatch in healthier lawns and root areas will benefit from a properly aerated lawn.
Aerating your lawn helps with better drainage of water to and from the roots. If aeration is not done before the cooler, wetter months, water will sit on the topsoil and essentially suffocate the grassroots below.
