Our year round six step lawn care programme provides fertilisation, weed control and a continued moss control during the winter months. In recent years one of the key alterations in the UK climate are winters that are wetter and have milder temperatures. This has lead to an increase in moss growth on lawns. Our lawn care programmes are continually modified to overcome the challenges that the climate provides. Ensuring your lawn starts to look its best earlier and for longer.
Early Spring Lawn Treatment
Step 1
In early spring your lawn is beginning its growth cycle following the winter dormancy. An application of moss control will help the lawn resist moss invasion thus retaining its quality of appearance and begin the growing cycle with out having to compete with undesirable plants for moisture, nutrient and light, strengthening the grass plant ready for the coming summer conditions.
Spring Lawn Treatment
Step 2
This application provides the best mix of nutrients to promote strong leaf growth and overall good plant health combined with moss control. Broadleaf weed control may also be applied at this time to help control weeds that have germinated. Some weeds are persistent and require weed control over more than one application cycles.
The early spring and late spring applications are also an excellent time for lawn aeration. All lawns, no matter what condition, will benefit from aeration. This is also the time that grass insects and pests may begin to be active in lawns. Your TruGreen® Lawn Care Technician will advise you on the treatments that are best for your lawn.
Early Summer Lawn Treatment
Step 3
During this period the plants energies are redirected, it now concentrates on developing leaf growth. In order to continue to provide the correct balance of nutrients the make up of the fertiliser is modified to support the plants changing needs. Broadleaf weed control will continue.
Summer Lawn Treatment
Step 4
This is the time of the year when your grass plants begin the reproduction cycle. You may see an increase in turf density and growth will be vigorous. Your Lawn Care Technician will apply a balanced fertiliser to stimulate the grass after the potential stresses of early summer and help strengthen the grass plant.
This is again a time that grass insects and pests may begin to be active in lawns. If grass insects are present, your Lawn Care Technician will advise you on the appropriate treatment.
Early Autumn Lawn Treatment
Step 5
As the amount of daylight decreases in the autumn, temperatures begin to cool and growth begins to slow down. The content of the fertiliser is changed to provide a balanced mix of nutrients. Which will be applied providing suitable nourishment to the grass for the time of the year. The applied product also has a moss control element to kill any moss that may be creeping into a lawn due to cooler temperatures and increased moisture.
The weather is often just right for weeds and there may be a second spurt of weed growth. Weed control products will be applied to control this problem.
Autumn is a good time to remove moss. Your Lawn Care Technician will advise you of the appropriate treatment for moss control. He will also discuss maintenance practices such as lawn scarification and aeration.
Winter Lawn Treatment
Step 6
As autumn moves into winter temperatures continue to fall the grass plant stops using the available nutrients for leaf growth and uses other nutrients for crucial root development and growth. The main objective of this treatment is to prevent or kill moss creeping into the lawn.
