Even the very best kept lawns are susceptible to weeds. Weed control is achieved through the application of herbicides, which are absorbed into the weeds primarily through their leaves. The ideal time for weed control is when the weed is actively growing.
Thick turf helps prevent lawn weeds by giving them less room for a foothold. Mowing at the correct height can also help, as grass blades shade the soil from the warmth of the sun and prevent the seeds from germinating. TruGreen® lawn care will work with you to build up your lawn and control the weeds.
Weed control is an ongoing process and it may take more than one application to eradicate certain weed types. As weed seeds are always falling on your lawn, blown in by the wind, deposited by animals and birds’ regular treatments are necessary.
Weed control treatments do not affect grass plants. However, weed control products should not be applied to newly seeded grass for approximately 6 months. Our lawn care technicians will recommend the most appropriate application along with a suitable fertiliser to ensure that your grass grows and weeds are forced out.
